Courier 6 after cleaning up all Ulysses’s shit:

Lonesome Road is my least favorite DLC and at least 65% of the reason is Ulysses.

I’ll say this, once you understand Ulysses, it becomes alot better.

–FOR MY FOLLOWERS WHOSE FAMILY TREES DON’T FORK, THIS IS GONNA HAVE SPOILERS–

ok so Ulysses is a deeply traumatized man. To find this out, you have to have a very high speech skill, and find all of his logs, and complete all previous DLCs.

Ulysses is a tribal. When the legion took over the twisted hairs, it diddn’t really set in that his tribe and culture were dead. So after Ulysses took the white legs under his wing under order of cesar, and saw them adopt his sacred dreadlocks; each knot having meaning, he was disgusted. He was finally from the inside looking out. He knew what the legion did, and it finally set in on him that the twisted hairs were gone forever.

These violent, stupid tribals took his tribe’s history and turned it into an empty tribute not out of respect for him and his people, but as leverage to try and get in good with the legion. This is why ulysses was so obsessed with history.

When the NCR sent the nuke activation package from the recently conquered Navvaro to the divide, and set off the nukes, When you delivered that package, He was reminded of when he sent word to ceasar informing him of New Vegas and the hoover dam. he saw your actions overlaid with his own. That’s why no matter how you defend your actions, he calls it “carelessness”. He’s referring to his own actions, not yours.

Ulysses saw the divide as a place where the NCR couldn’t really reach, and the legion had no presence. A place for something similar to the good side of old world america to begin again. But the fact that it could be destroyed in an instant because of the actions of one man drove him over the edge.

So Ulysses sees new vegas, the west coast, and the midwest as having a cancer. The only way they can be saved is to be erased and the slate blank. Then in 200 years, maybe something better will rise. He diddn’t realize that sometimes when you erase something bad, something worse can rise.

The tale of ulysses is one of wrath and regret.
