You wanna hear how bad ace discourse can get in real life? I have(or… Had) two gay dads. I’m adopted. When I was 15 I came out as het ace, not yet knowing I was pan. My dads didn’t have a problem with it, one of them said I might be too “young” to know, but that I could identify with whatever I wanted. Casual aphobia hurts. Then I said “Now I can go with you to pride parades and LGBT events!!” Their facial expressions changed. “You’re not LGBT. Being asexual doesn’t make you LGBT” one of them said. I was so hurt. “Yes it does!” I said. They began yelling. At each other. At me. “Our child is an inclusionist! What are we supposed to do?!” “Don’t worry, honey. She’ll come around. We’ll just have to educate her.” I didn’t come around. So they threw me out of the place I’d lived for the past fifteen years. For being an ace inclusionist. This is how this mess affects real people. I am disgusted.
