Hey just want to let y’all know that despite all the shit goin on right now I still love America and its History
of all the dumb shit you’ve posted this is by far the worst, like you’re really hitting new strides here. to hear about your country detaining children/destroying families & for your response to be “despite all this… i love my imperialist country and its history of racism and genocide!!” like. holy fuck! how little do you actually care about people
I hold no love for our current executive office, nor their actions. But I do love America, and I love what America represents.
I love a nation forged from enlightenment era philosophy that took up arms against their ruler and created a global superpower.
I love a nation torn apart by civil war but reunited through the actions of brave soldiers who believed in freedom for all and abolitionists who risked all to help those in need
I love a nation rich in natural beauty, that decided it was time to stand against rampant industrialism and nationalize these lands so they can never be spoiled by those seeking profit.
I love a nation that, even when they weren’t directly fighting, provided aid to Europe during one of the darkest periods of human history
I love a nation where you can speak freely about your beliefs, where better lives can be made, and you can pursue your passion.
We have had our dark periods. Our treatment of our indigenous population. Our system of slavery. Our foreign policy. All will forever be shameful marks on the face of our history.
We are in a dark period now. Anger runs rampant. Those in power are incompetent at best and malicious at worst. But the beauty of America is that it’s all temporary. There is no King Trump. Not only that, but the pushback from all sides, domestic and political, has been astounding. Seeing the marches, protests, and vocal outrage by the American people reminded me of this nation’s strength. America isn’t its government or its policies. America is its people.
