the fandom: Stan faking his own death was a deeply dramatic, tragic scene in his life. The symbolic death of his self, the severing of his old identity in the service of rescuing his brother, his old life gone up in flames as he watched, knowing that he could not turn back now. Of course, the question of where he got the body raises even more possibilities, all likely to be unpleasant at best–

SO LIKE after the finale aired I became a little fixated on the Relativity Falls AU, y’know, where Stan and Ford are the young twins and they stay at Auntie Mabel’s Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls and all that. Soon however I decided to add a new wrinkle: what if we set Relativity Falls during the Stan bros’ actual childhood? It would mean Mabel and her “secret twin brother” Dipper were born somewhere around 1900, which of course logically leads to FLAPPER MABEL. Which is honestly kiiind of the thing I most focus on in my reams of doodles, haha. A friend and I have been shouting ideas at each other for the better part of several weeks, so here’s the basic timeline we came up with.
As usual, I couldn’t resist playing around with the color schemes, haha, I eyedroppered colors from old photos and overlaid them on the official base colors. I decided to have fun and come up with my own designs for elderly!Mabel and Dipper, I made them a little stouter and rounder than some of the other designs I’ve seen around, and I like the less-common idea of Auntie Mabel wearing a turban rather than a fez. (And I know Mabel looks great in a bob but I think to her it represents where she went wrong as much as Stan’s mullet did to him.)
I need a compilation of all the theories the GF fandom came up with before the finale, like “significance of some characters having 4 fingers while others have 5″, “Dipper’s been possessed by Bill since Sock Opera”, “Gideon is a vampire”…so many good ones that amounted to nothing lmao
