As the presence of the grumpy blue bear indicates, this is response to one of  Andrew Dobson’s comics- one that gave my an aneurysm since he basically pooh-poohed the concept of a cartoonist being capable of drawing realistically.

I’m big on encouraging experimentation and working in a lot of different styles but I definitely argue that naturalistic studies are super helpful in improving everything from your hand-eye coordination and observasion skills, to knowledge of anatomy and movement. You’ll find that it helps you develop your own style and also makes the process of drawing easier. Though like I said, it isn’t necissarily easy so don’t be discouraged if your portraits come out a little….unrecognizable.That’s where my drawing teacher’s advice is really helpful- try and identify the most distinctive features of your subject. (I would suggest Mort Drucker as an artist to study in that regard. He’s a freaking awesome MAD Magazine artist. ) I think that advice applies to stylization in general too.

Have fun practicing it, though!

For those interested, here is the original comic of Dobson’s:

Seriously, I love seeing these response comics, because it makes a clear example of just how lacking Dobson’s are. Both @orangezeppelin and @darkvioletcloud made their response comics with a much better message to people(as I bossed to Dobson’s “look at this dumb person that doesn’t agree with me! Aren’t they dumb and me so smart and clever?”) and both comic responses have a much more informed and positive message to them compared to Dobson just wanting to one-up his strawmen.

Major kudos to @orangezeppelin for doing this. Hopefully we can avoid Dobson blackmailing you and treating you like shot over it compared to last time.

I think he finally blocked me so he might not see it for a while at least. 😂 But yeah, what bothers me so much about his comics like this is that he’s never really sending a positive and inspiring message to artists. It’s usually him just trying to deflect criticism or paint other artists in a bad light.

Yes. Anyone is capable of rape. Idgaf if it’s my brother, uncle, or father. I will believe the woman.

My best friend was accused of rape. And the accuser was absolutely telling the truth even though they did not press charges, they decided to tell me and I believe them. Also TWO of my friends confirmed witnessing and trying to stop it, I understand there was more than one violation. What the fuck is OPs point?

Obviously I’m not friends with the sexual predator anymore.

They specifically said “falsely accused”. Can y’all read, or…?

My point is, it’s probably not a false accusation. It also talked about believing women and I would believe a woman over my brother or father because she doesn’t benefit from coming forward about something like that. Also yes all men.

“She doesn’t benefit” Ahahahahaha! Wow. Yeah, anyway…

According to a 2017 report by the US National Institutes of Health, fake accusers “were primarily motivated by emotional gain. Most false allegations were used to cover up other behaviour such as adultery or skipping school”.

Hmmm…how about this one?

The Duke lacrosse case was a widely reported 2006 criminal case in which three members of the Duke University men’s lacrosse team were falsely accused of rape. The case evoked varied responses from the media, faculty groups, students, the community, and others. The case’s resolution sparked public discussion of racism, media bias, and due process on campuses, and ultimately led to the resignation and disbarment of the lead prosecutor, Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong.

The second stripper who performed at the house, Kim Roberts, said that Mangum was not raped. She stated that Mangum was not obviously hurt. Likewise, she refuted other aspects of Mangum’s story including denying that she helped dress Mangum after the party and saying that they were not forcefully separated by players as Mangum had reported.

DNA results revealed that the woman had sex with a man who was not a Duke lacrosse player. Attorney Joseph Cheshire said the tests indicated DNA from a single male source came from a vaginal swab taken from Mangum. Media outlets reported that this DNA was from her boyfriend.

However, it was later revealed that DNA from multiple males who were neither the lacrosse players nor Mangum’s boyfriend had been found, but that these findings had been deliberately withheld from the Court and the defense.

She had made a similar claim in the past which she did not pursue. On August 18, 1996, the dancer – then 18 years old – told a police officer in Creedmoor she had been raped by three men in June 1993, according to a police document. The officer who took the woman’s report at that time asked her to write a detailed timeline of the night’s events and bring the account back to the police, but she never returned.

The strip club’s security officer said that Mangum told co-workers four days after the party that she was going to get money from some boys at a Duke party who had not paid her, mentioning that the boys were white. The security guard did not make a big deal of it because he felt that no one took her seriously.

Mangum was arrested in 2002 for stealing a cab from a strip club where she had been working. She led police officers on a high-speed chase before she was apprehended, at which point her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. She was sentenced to three weekends in detention.

Or this one?

image

The woman, dirty, disheveled and in tears, ran over to a patrol car parked along a Harlem street in the early morning of Jan. 18, 1991. She told police officers she had been kidnapped at knife point near her home in Queens and raped by three black men, whom she identified.

Before the end of the month, the police arrested two of the men she had named — Gregory Counts, then 19, and VanDyke Perry, then 21. They were charged with rape, sodomy, kidnapping and criminal possession of a weapon, according to court records. The third man was never caught.

Investigators had no physical evidence. Semen recovered from the woman did not match the two accused men. The prosecution’s case relied heavily on her testimony, which was inconsistent. The defense argued the woman, a recovering crack addict, fabricated the story to protect her boyfriend, who had shot Mr. Perry two months earlier and was wanted by the police, court records show.

Yet, in 1992, a jury convicted Mr. Counts and Mr. Perry on all counts except for the weapons charges. Mr. Perry ended up serving 11 years in prison, Mr. Counts 26.

Yeah, I’m sure she didn’t stand to benefit from that, right?

In December 2017 a student was cleared of rape thanks to evidence uncovered in his Facebook messages, however, he still had to spend over three years in prison before he could prove his innocence.

Prosecutors dropped charges Monday against four California dentists, including three brothers, who defense attorneys said were falsely accused of raping a woman at a Las Vegas Strip hotel.

“After review of the facts of the case, it was clear that the allegations were completely fabricated,” lawyers for the men wrote in a prepared statement before a court appearance. “The evidence confirmed the men’s innocence, and the state has cleared them of all charges.”

None of the dentists, all of whom were already free on their own recognizance, appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court for a hearing that took about 30 seconds, just long enough for a prosecutor to tell Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman the charges were dismissed.

In early August, after the allegations were reported in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, attorneys for Ali Badkoobehi, 30, Saman Edalat, 39, Sina Edalat, 34, and Poria Edalat, 30, said video evidence contradicted the rape claim.

Badkoobehi’s attorneys Robert Draskovich and Michael Horvath said video showed that the allegations were false and the sex was consensual.

Craig Hendricks, who represents Poria Edalat, said prosecutors were presented exculpatory video evidence that showed “extremely different” circumstances than what was initially reported to authorities.

Jess Marchese, the attorney for Saman Edalat, said his client did not have a sexual encounter with the woman. Gary Guymon, who represents Sina Edalat, pointed out in August that a prosecutor did not object to releasing the men without bond.

The men were arrested in late July after the woman told Wynn Las Vegas security that she was sexually assaulted in a suite while intoxicated.

In a statement that referenced the #MeToo movement, the men thanked their lawyers, family and friends for support during a “horrific ordeal,” which included media reports of the allegations.

“We are so grateful to the justice system for recognizing that we were the victims in this case,” the statement said. “We knew when the facts came out that the vicious allegations would be exposed as lies and our good names would be cleared. At this sensitive moment in our history, we believe that women should be respected and heard and believed. But as this case shows, it is also important to keep a critical eye on those willing to use the movement for their own selfish motives and remember that innocent until proven guilty is one of our country’s bedrock principles.”

There are more. My friend @lastsonlost has a long list of cases and maybe he’ll be generous enough to share them.

Now, maybe you don’t give a shit about due process. Maybe you don’t care if one of your male relatives is accused of sexual assault. Maybe seeing them unjustly suffer even if there’s a complete lack of evidence and credible witnesses means nothing to you, but for the rest of us, it means a lot.

I have an autistic son, 16 years old and nonverbal. He is innocent and vulnerable in ways able-bodied women of sound mind are not. He would be completely unable to defend himself if someone decided to accuse him of something like that. He doesn’t understand the meaning of evil. He has no concept of it. He doesn’t have a single malicious bone in his entire body.

He sure as hell doesn’t go around generalizing and demonizing people because of their gender, much less anything else. That alone makes him a better person than you’ll probably ever be so you can shove that “yes all men” bullshit where the sun doesn’t shine.

Rape has actually decreased by over 80% since 1979, despite an increase in the willingness of victims and others to report them (and here are three more links that verify this) or that FALSE reports of rape across college campuses are at an all-time high, as reported by an equity feminist scholar that has written extensively on the subject of “rape culture”.  For good measure, here are even more statistics and information directly from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The ubiquitous “1 in 5 women will become a victim of rape” statement that keeps popping up is actually a complete and utter lie (and here are three more links to verify this as well).

I have to ask, are you surprised at all that these disgusting people would gladly join a lynch mob without any evidence? Almost as if they are completely happy to create more victim just so they can validate their paranoia.

Emmet Till, Jay Cheshire, Ross Bullock and Lesandro Guzman-Feliz were a fine price to pay, right? Several years of numerous men’s lives were also a fine sarifice, right? All so people could simply listen and believe.

@noelleian nice post up there by the way.l

Question to everyone else above who quickly jump to say yes they would believe the accuser no questions asked:

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR WRONG?

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THEM if it came out that the accusations were indeed FALSE and after 10 to 20 years in prison you have to face them again.

“She suddenly broke and said I was absolutely right. She had made the whole thing up because she was angry with her father and wanted to teach him a lesson,” McCulloch said.

I don’t want to hear how you think it’s rare or how you swear up and down that men are believed more because it’s not true. There’s practically a new Old Man released from prison every other day.

My question stands.

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THE INNOCENT MAN YOU HELP PUT A WAY FOR A CRIME HE DID NOT DO?

I feel like there’s is this general belief that once you have someone convicted of a crime that’s it like they magically stop existing and you never have to face that person ever again.

The woman who falsely accused Brian Banks thought that since she was wrong.

Now she has to pay back 1.5 million and I honestly think she deserves far worse.

I love it how everyone forgets that everyone lies because someone with tears shows up on their doorstep.

The first two posters should just say they hate Black men and leave.

Just adding more

Even men are catching on that False allegations are becoming too common

I was going to pitch into this debate, but…

1) you guys nailed it

2) they still won’t listen anyways….

I think a law should be put in place where if a rape allegation is proved false. That the person who lied should serve the sentence of what the other person would have received and if that person committed suicide over such false allegation. They should be behind bars for murder. Also, if they got won a settlement, got money from findings, and whatever the accused lost during and after the trial. They should pay back 2 fold back to the falsely accused.

I got a huge agreement with grey-firearms but I want to add one thing, if it took you more than a certain number of years to announce then it didn’t affect your life enough, be the statement true or false. If it took you that long to say then why should I care I mean you clearly didn’t for quite a while

Mmm I think that’s a bad way to go about it.

Real life victims sometimes have a hard time getting help because of guilt, they’re afraid to come out or any reason of self blame(idk it just goes along those lines I think). Men especially are scared and afraid to come forth because of how society treats them. Everything should be based on facts either way.

Literally this post broke the fucking site, and I’m here for it.

orangeandgreengardens up there…smh.

So you’re just omniscient now? You know that false accusations are never false, they’re almost always true? I’m glad as hell you don’t work in our judicial system.

Let’s start accusing people who don’t believe in “innocent until proven guilty” of crimes they didn’t commit. See how quickly we can teach them.

We’ve tried. They just say it doesn’t count when it’s them.

There seems to be a disconnect somewhere around empathy for them.  They can’t be affected by false allegations against themselves, because they know they didn’t do the thing, but they can’t acknowledge the possibility of someone else being falsely accused of something.

They acknowledge it, they just don’t think it’s significant. Some of them even claim people should be sacrificed. Aridara even claimed he’d be willing to take the hit himself, though he also claimed accusations don’t have any real consequences.

So, listen and believe types, was I supposed to believe the women who claimed a black guy sexually assaulted them, when in reality they didn’t like him making a community garden, or oooh how about convenience store Susan and the sexually harassing black kid which turned out to be his back bumping into her?

Hey guys not to dip in on the discourse here but selling human remains on etsy directly violates etsy’s policies and i’d definitely not snitch if a couple (a lot) of people reported this.

can my followers who have etsy report this please?

Because it can be a bit hard to find out where to report things (it took me 15 mins on searching around because im dumb) I took some screenshots to help people report her.

1.) Report her shop altogether. She’s selling HUMAN REMAINS. Her whole shop needs to be taken down. I already reported her but here you can see the item that should be reported as well as where to report her shop.

2.) When you’re on the page for the item you want to report, scroll all the way down. Then click “Report this item to Etsy’

3.) This is how you fill out the report form. If you want to go into detail about the product, even better! Go for it! I kept it short to show off the reporting box

Just click report this listing and call it a day! I would recommend only reporting once- we don’t want to flood them with reports to the point where they can’t sort through them to properly take down her shop. I hope this helps!

Gosh, that sure looks exactly like a statement a lawyer could twist into evidence of racial bias in a lawsuit, and one it would be extremely unlikely for a random cop, much less a Sheriff, to make.

http://wtkr.com/2018/04/26/local-state-police-respond-to-allegations-made-in-viral-twitter-post/

Oh look, the cops officially say there’s no evidence this happened and Hermione refuses to contact them or the press*. So much for the One Good Cop™ who said he’d help.

https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/local/mycity/virginia-beach/multiple-police-agencies-viral-traffic-stop-story-unfounded/291-546049821

Also, VA beach cops don’t even carry tasers, and “State Police note that “in this area, Sheriff deputies work the court systems and are only in their vehicles during the day to serve warrants and court documents, they do not work evening or midnight shifts.”“

“The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that they only have civil process deputies out on the streets to serve evictions and similar functions, and that they would not respond to a stop in another jurisdiction.”

In short;

* I looked at the map, and the only counties near Virginia Beach are Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. And he wouldn’t be in Chesapeake unless he somehow decided to go past Norfolk, where they live.
